Hey There...

     Well, it's spring time on the Treasure Coast of Florida. That's a relative term. Spring = summer, just not quite so hot every moment of the time. Chuckles. I enjoy the colder moments. My wife likes hot all the time.  We just got back home from a weekend watching our grandkids in Lighthouse Point. Our daughter Dynese and her husband Rick had business and we had a great time with Ryan and Erin. 

     We are working on adding this, that and whatever to our new Patio. Carolyn wants to get a solar birdbath and I have ordered a number of solar pathway lanterns.She has a bunch of seeds we got at Home Depot the other day to plant in the raised bed area as well. Still looking for a few more potted plants to place here and there and a nice lantern for the patio table.

     I have finished the 23rd in The Falls small town mystery series. It's titled, The Falls: Full Circle. The story of ex FBI agent Amy Barnes. I'm editing it and placing in format for Kindle and it should be out within a week. I've ordered the paperback proof of The Falls" Boneyard, 16th in the series, from CreateSpace. Should be here in a few days and then I'll get started with that. I'll start transposing the next one in the seres, The Falls: Coldblooded, as soon as I'm finished editing The Falls: Full Circle.

     Time to start putting our names in for HGTV's Smart Home giveaway again! Maybe some year we'll win. Ah, well. Pipe dreams huh? But, if you don't dream...well...you never get your wings working and get off the ground. Right? May the dragons watch over you... 

Hey There...

     Well, Easter has come and gone...here's hoping that the bunny brought you something other than little brown nuggets. Although...bunny nuggets do help the garden grow. Our new patio is shaping up nicely. Check out landscapingbyanthony.com. Great landscaper. Planted veggies and herbs in the new raised beds. Carolyn is enjoying that. 

     I've been working on the 23rd The Falls small town mystery series story, and it doesn't even have a name yet, I just realized. Hmmm. Also working on editing the paperback proof of The Falls: Brotherly Love for CreateSpace and getting The Falls:Boneyard ready for CreateSpace as well. I'll order the Boneyard proof in a few days...tomorrow I'll place the Brotherly Love story on CreateSpace. My goal is to catch the paperback books up to the eBook version as soon as possible. That's for those readers who like the feel of a real book in their hands. 

     Watching the last episode of last season's Downton Abbey. We really enjoy the story. We already have the last season DVD and will dole it out sparingly, make it last. We tape a lot of shows like NCIS, Elementary, Bluebloods, Blacklist, Blindside, Mike and Molly, Big Bank Theory, etc. Then we watch them when we eat lunch. We usually have our bigger meal in the early afternoon and then just have frozen yogurt, fruit, etc. in the evening.

     Well, we didn't win the HGTV Dream Home 2016. We always enter every day and as most of you...never win, but keep trying. The Smart Home looks wonderful. It's in North Carolina this year. Good luck, to any of you who enter. Sure would be nice to win one of those beautiful homes some year. Chuckles...

     Take time to tell the people in your life how much they mean to you. Seriously, you never know what life has in store for you. Take care and be happy. May the dragons watch over you...

Top O' the Mornin'!

     Well, 'tis Sty. Paddy's Day again and the 40 shades of green washes over us all. I'm a quarter Irish, as well as being Scottish and English. Seems all my ancestors came from those little islands. Did a DNA match at Ancestry.com last year. Interesting. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about your heritage.

     My wife Carolyn and I worked the polls this last Tuesday, and it was a large turnout. She runs one of the EVIDs, the computer where you swipe your driver's license or manually find your name/address/polling place and whether you can vote or not. I give out ballots and direct the people to the voting booths. We were there from quarter of six until after eight-thirty that evening. The county governments actually have it all down to a workable science and pack up all the materials needed in a large blue cargo box on wheels. Anyone looking to volunteer, I would advise you to do so. We will work the polls in August and then again in November...with training sessions before each one.

     We have a new patio with Old Chicago pavers and I will include a picture when we're done. Working on book 23 in The Falls small town mystery series, and editing the paperback proof of The Falls: Brotherly Love as well as creating the CreateSpace.com template for the next in the series, The Falls: Boneyard. So I'm busy, as usual.

     Went to the Book Fair at the Morningside Library in Port St Lucie (there was another one in Ft Pierce) last Saturday. Sold and autographed a number of paperbacks and talked to lots of folks. Had my picture taken a few times as well. Chuckles...hope it didn't break the camera. It was a nice affair. Kudos to the Library Association for sponsoring such a nice event. 

     Trying to figure out the election and the candidates. More like a three ring circus than a presidential election, unfortunately. May the dragons watch over you all as you try and decide who you want leading and representing us over the next four years.

Leap Year!

     Well, we are approaching the pinnacle of Leap Year...February 29th is in sight. Have to admit, whoever made the calendar we live by was a bit imprecise...an extra day every four years to catch us up. Humph! If we did that in the books we write...somebody would certainly leave an 'unbelievable' review!

     Speaking of reviews, it never ceases to amaze me how many nice, kind and caring people stop and leave a review on one of the books I have out there. Of course then you have the professional negative reviewers as well. If a book isn't to their taste, whether it's well written or not, they skewer it. But to all those nice folks out there...THANK YOU. A good review is the highest praise we can ask for as writers.

     We just put in a a new patio with Old Chicago pavers. Amazing! Anxiously waiting for the landscaper (Landscaping by Anthony, landscapingbyanthony.com) to put in the plants. We are very pleased with the effect the white fence and the pavers have made.

     More than a third of the way through the next Falls mystery. Still don't have a title which is unusual for me. More than halfway through editing the paperback proof of Brotherly Love, the 16th in the series. Carolyn gets it next. Thank you Sweetheart.

     Went to poll workers training yesterday. There are three poll days we'll work this year. March (presidential preference primary), August (regular primary) and November (regular election/presidential election). Long days but we feel good about doing our 'civic duty'. We still volunteer in the hospital on Tuesdays as well. I wheel out discharged patients and Carolyn works on the labor and delivery floor.

     I'm on Twitter, in case you're interested.  TheFalls_VT is my twitter address. Makes sense, I hope. I'm not much of a Twitter person, but it's another way for people to relate and see a bit of what The Falls series has to offer.

     Our daughter Stephanie and her husband Joe are now in Italy. Joe's in the army as a Lt. Colonel. They are stationed near Venice. Must be a whole new world!

Valentine's Day!

     Tomorrow is Valentine's Day. The day for people in love to send each other greetings, warm wishes, intimate presents and a day to be thankful for the one person in your life that means the world to you.  It works that way in The Falls as well. Grandma Burman has planned a special supper for her Ralph, Doc has created an evening of  luxury, love and pampering for his pregnant wife Jordan, Meg and Shanks have taken a long hike up to his cabin, where they will spend the evening and next day wrapped up in a toasty blanket beside the roaring fire. Nicholas and Marion will spend half of the evening playing happily with the twins, and the other half spending some much needed alone time together. Even Darlene and Moses will be spending the evening at the fancy French restaurant in Brown Bear Junction, followed up by a visit to The Scoop for hot fudge sundaes. 

     There are always those people who are alone on Valentine's Day as well. Sean will spend the evening playing video games and eating Marie's favorite ice cream, while thinking of and being glad for the time they had together. Old lady Montgomery will spend the evening flipping through the photos of her and the Colonel. He's been gone for eighteen years, but she's still just as much in love with him as when she was eighteen.

     Perhaps the most interesting couple will be Cash and Yamato. They will spend the evening rocking on the porch in the cold, sipping hot coffee and enjoying warm blueberry pie from Tina's Diner. Not one word will be said of love or commitment, but in their hearts, they are as much a couple as anyone in The Falls. They believe in each other and would do anything for the other.

     To all of you: I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day. It doesn't matter if you're a couple or by yourself, or just spending it with friends. Enjoy the blessings you are endowed with in this world, indulge in some ice cream, crack open a bottle of bubbly if you so choose, and be glad that you have what you have.

     I'm a third of the way through the 23rd Falls novel, and I have just sent the fifteenth one (Brotherly Love) into CreateSpace to be made into a paperback. I should get the proof in a few days and then in three or four weeks the book should be ready for publication on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, CreateSpace and elsewhere.The 22nd novel, The Falls: The Grass is Always Greener is out on Kindle.

     So my Valentine's present to all of you is to let you know that The Falls is alive and well and will have many stories yet to come! Happy Valentine's Day Carolyn! Love you lots...

'Tis the Season...

     Here's hoping that all of you are enjoying the wonderful, warm, chaotic, magical, and sometimes stressful holiday season! I have just had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done, the first one since the space age, and I'm about three quarters of the way through with the 22nd volume of The Falls small town mystery series. I also had a very pleasant surprise (no, not the C &E)  recently. There was a very flattering article written about my second career (writing) in the local paper, Your Voice News and Views, St. Lucie West/Tradition, by a very talented and remarkably talented reporter/columnist, Shelley Koppel. (skoppel@YourVoiceWeekly.com)

     Her interview on The Falls series , and therefore on me as well, was remarkably well done,  and kind and thoughtful toward an old Scotsman as well. If you get a chance, Google it or check it out on line. Thank you Miss Koppel, I am in your debt.

     I'm working on editing and transposing The Falls: Brotherly Love into paperback at CreateSpace as well. I continue to marvel at how easy it is to work with both Kindle Direct Publishing at Amazon and CreateSpace.com in producing eBooks and paperbacks. My thanks to both companies. They are indeed an independent (Indi) author's best friend.

     The tree is up (nine feet tall, all white lights with only glass, grass, sliver and white ornaments. Beautiful! We have a new fence this year and we have hung garland along each section with a large bow at each post and a wreath on each gate, courtesy of my creative and hard working better half, Carolyn. She amazes me all the time.

     Our daughter Stephenie and her husband Joe will be moving to Italy for the final stop in his 20 year stint in the army. He is now a Lieutenant Colonel. Congratulations Joe! Here's hoping they both have a great time in Italy! Ciao!

Nearly Thanksgiving...

     Well, here we are again...the holiday season is staring us square in the face. Thanksgiving in two days...but the decorations, ads and sales for Christmas have been with us for weeks. When did the two become one? Ah well...I'm not to grip about it two days before Thanksgiving.

     Working on The Falls: The Grass is Always Greener, the 22nd The Falls small town mystery. It has part of the plot in Scotland, while a couple of others are in The Falls. I'm about halfway through and I'm still interested...that's a good sign! Chuckles. Working on editing the 16th Falls novel The Falls: Pretentious Withdrawal, for a CreateSpace paperback. 

     I was interviewed by a local reporter for the newspaper today. If all goes well I will blog about it in the next episode of this blog. I don't like to tempt fate and say too much until it really is in the paper, you know?

     I'm very thankful for all of you readers and for life in general. My family...wife, kids, grandkids and great kids are amazing and wonderful and i love them all dearly. I'm very lucky.

     I wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all the fans of The Falls out there...and hope that all of you have a great day filled with family, friends, love, laughter, football and good food! May the dragons flame broiled your bird and may they watch over you all...

The Falls: Bad Penny

     JUST RELEASED! The Falls: Bad Penny is the 21st book in The Falls small town mystery series. It has just been released at the Kindle Store! Drake's dark past comes back to haunt him and Cash, Yamato, Horace, Doc and Meg struggle to find and capture Winchester Gibbons, master criminal.

     Just finished editing and publishing the paperback version of The Falls: Thanksgiving (#13 in the series) on CreateSpace this morning as well. It will be averrable at Amazon, CreateSpace and Barnes & Noble in a few days. Two in one day! A new record! Next up to be converted to paperback...The Falls: Pretentious Withdrawal. I've already started editing and converting.

     Phone service had been out for three days her in Port St Lucie, Florida. Florida Light and Power cut the AT&T cable to the cell tower. Our Verizon had been off as well. Hopefully, we will back on later today. 

     Happy Fall! Although in Florida...the seasons are almost indistinguishable! I miss the foliage and even the snow at times. I know, I know, stop whining. I hope you like the new Falls story and the next one is already percolating in my head. May the dragons watch over you all...
